Registering for the first time

You can register as a new user using the online forms provided here. Read the instructions on each page carefully and try to be as comprehensive as possible with the details that you enter: this will help visitors to the site find your record when they perform detailed searches. You can be confident that no personal contact details will be made visible on the Artscape site.

Editing your details

• Name and Contact Details: This page allows you to keep your contact details up to date. Please ensure your email address is correct - this will be the method by which users of the site will contact you. If you do not have an email address, make sure that you have entered a telephone number so that any details of potential work can be passed on to you.
  
• Artforms: On this page, you can indicate which artforms you have experience of, and are prepared to work within. Please note that you must have ticked the artform category (e.g. Music) in order to tick a subcategory (e.g. Popular).
  
• Description of Work: This page allows you to enter the full details of you/your organisation and your work. Please be as thorough as possible as this will help users of the Artscape site identify whether you can help them with their needs. The Summary field is especially important, as this information appears below your name on the search results page - it's advisable to keep this information concise and clear.
  
• Scope of Work and Membership of Professional Organisations: This page allows you to specify the kind of work that you do. This information is very useful for users of the site who are trying to identify artists and organisations who meet their specific need.
  
• Recent Projects: Please use this page to enter details of two recent projects that you have undertaken. These should be as recent as possible, as these are an essential element of your artscape listing.
  
• Associated Media: On this page you can see all the media that you have uploaded. These might be photos, videos, sound clips or documents that might be of interest to users looking at your record on the Artscape site.

Adding media items

All media items are limited to a maximum file size of 2 Megabytes, and once they have been uploaded they must be approved by an Artscape administator before they will be visible on the public site. Acceptable file types are:

pictures (extensions bmp,jpg,gif,jpeg,pct,pict,psd,png)
shockwave files (extension dcr)
web pages without images (extensions html,htm)
quicktime video (extension mov)
pdf files (extension pdf)
flash files (extension swf)
word documents (extension doc)
text and rich text files (extensions txt,rtf)
windows video files (extension avi)

You should note that the maximum file size for these uploads may be limited by your connection speed - you have a maximum of 2 minutes to upload each file, so on modem connections this may limit you to files of about 300 Kb.

Making Contact

When someone finds your record as the result of a search, they are given the option of contacting you. This is handled by the Artscape content management system, and your email address is not revealed at any stage. You will receive an email containin the message that they entered, and you may reply directly to this in your own time.
